WhatsApp Integration

This integration is a game-changer for businesses and organizations aiming to provide exceptional customer support, engage in proactive marketing, or offer services directly through one of the most popular messaging platforms globally.

Integration Guide
Prerequisites: Integrating WhatsApp with murai requires your business to be verified by Facebook. Detailed verification instructions are available on the Facebook Business Help Center. This process includes submitting your business information and waiting for Facebook's approval.
1. Creating a Facebook Page
A Facebook Page is crucial as it often forms the first impression for new customers. If you don't have one, create it using the guidelines here.
Note: You need administrative or developer rights on the page to link a chatbot.
2. Setting Up a Facebook App
A Facebook App is essential for integration. Follow these steps, detailed on the Meta for Developers page:
- Sign up for a Meta Developer account.
- Visit the App Dashboard and click Create App.
- Choose Other, then Business when asked about the app’s purpose.
- Name your app appropriately.
- Link it to your business account for a more integrated setup.
Note: Ensure administrative access to your Facebook Page is available.
3. Adding Your WhatsApp Phone Number
- In the App Dashboard, select WhatsApp from the product list and click Set Up.
- Follow prompts to link the app to your Facebook Page.
- Choose Start using the API.
- Add your business phone number: Select Add phone number and follow verification steps.
- Optionally, test the connection by sending a test message.
- After adding the number, select it and note down the phone number ID for the next steps.
4. Acquiring Credentials for Chatbot Integration
With your Facebook app and phone number ID ready, connect them to your murai chatbot:
Open a new tab, navigate to your workspace, and select the chatbot for WhatsApp integration.
In the chatbot settings, choose Integrations.
Select WhatsApp from external integrations.
Fill in the required credentials:
- Phone Number ID: From the WhatsApp API setup in previous steps.
- Page Access Token: Via API Explorer, generate an Access Token for your app and page.
- App ID: Located in your Facebook App's settings or dashboard.
- App Secret Token: Also in your App's settings, ensure to keep this secure.
Click Connect after entering all details.
Note down any additional credentials that appear. They will be used in the following steps.
4. Completing WhatsApp Integration Setup
- Return to the WhatsApp API setup page to configure the final steps.
- Click on Configure webhooks.
- Use the edit button to add a new webhook, entering the credentials received from your chatbot setup in previous steps.
After completing these steps and saving your settings, your AI chatbot is successfully integrated with WhatsApp and ready for live interaction and testing.
